Hand Crafted Birch Bark Jewelry

Meghan Simmons is an Alaska born artist based in Anchorage, Alaska. Her jewelry uses sustainably harvested birch bark collected during her many adventures around the state.
With a background in Biology and a passion for art, these pieces showcase the delicate and natural patterns intrinsic to birch. Each piece is made by hand and is one of a kind.
Natural birch bark is put together with sterling silver and semi-precious beads. A protective coating ensures the bark retains its natural color and protects the wood from moisture.
Your purchase also helps support Ocean Conservancy: working to bring people, science and policy together with a mission to counter the many threats to ocean health and sustainability. From protecting vital, vulnerable ecosystems through legislation, to enforcing accountability among leaders, Ocean Conservancy seeks solutions for a healthy ocean and the wildlife and communities that depend on it.
"When I was in Kachemak Bay, Alaska in August 2017, I became entranced by a pair of earrings worn by one of our guides.  She told me about the artist, and I went in search of the earrings in Homer, Alaska.  Each pair is one of a kind, the birch bark collected by hand by the artist.  They are incredibly light to wear and remind me of our fundamental connection to the forest and all things wild." - Tigger
