“Make tea, not war.” ~ Monty Python

Tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world, second only to water.  In search of rare and unique teas, we went to India to bring you a selection of teas that give a whole new meaning to the feeling of ahhhhh.

We begin with Silver Tips from the Makaibari estate in Darjeeling.  This rare leaf is only picked on full-moon nights when the planets align for optimal harvest conditions.  This mystical Oolong is the most expensive tea produced in India, and has sold for as high as $1,850.00 per kilo.  This tea is considered the “champagne” of teas.

Next is our Organic Chai, a black tea blended with Traditional Hindi spices including ginger, cinnamon, and cardamon.  The history of this tea dates back more than 5,000 years to an Indian Maharaja who ordered a  special beverage be made with the principles of Ayurvedic Medicine: using spices and herbs for balancing the body/mind.  This famous tea is typically brewed strong and then made creamy with heated milk and sweetened with sugar or honey.

Third is our Organic Breakfast tea, a full-bodied black tea, grown in the Darjeeling region of India, near Nepal. Our Organic Breakfast tea is traditionally produced by first rolling the picked leaves in a variety of ways to bruise the leaves and start oxidation and fermentation for color and flavor. The leaves are then dried at 110 degrees to seal the oxidation and flavors. This is a smooth, brisk, earthy tea that outshines many English Breakfast teas.
